Members and advisors of the Bloomfield Municipal Youth Guidance Council have been busy preparing for their upcoming Youth Festival.
Admission to the the Youth Festival and all that it has to offer is FREE and is open to Bloomfield teens in the 6-12 grade age range and will take place Saturday, October 4, from 4 - 9 PM at Memorial Park.
Councilwoman Janice Maly (Twp. Council Liaison to the Youth Guidance Council) said, "On behalf of all Bloomfield citizens, I want to thank the members of the BMYGC for their tireless effort in providing what promises to be a great day for the teenagers of our community."
BMYGC officials want to make it perfectly clear that the fesitival is open to Bloomfield residents only. The BMYGC implores those wishing to attend to bring either their school I.D. or some other form of valid identification proving they are Bloomfield residents.
The festival will feature FREE hot dogs, hamburgers, water. soda and other treats. Some of the activities planned include, Battle of the Bands, Tug of War, Sack Races, Wheel Barrow Race, Volleyball and free temporary tattoos.
BMYGC Chairman Gary Iacobacci said, "I want to thank all of our members and advisors who have been working so hard to bring this worthwhile event to our teens. Especially, Nicole Rambone; Teri Galioto; Laura Abendschoen; Francesca (Frankie) Galioto; Lt. James Behre; School Liaisons Mary Todaro & Lenore Imhoff; our Twp. Council Liaison, Councilwoman Janice Maly; Recreation Director Anthony Nesto; all of whom have been extremely helpful in the planning of this event."
The BMYGC expects 500 teens to be in attendance and is seeking monetary and food donations to help offset the cost of running the event as well as volunteers to help on the day of the event.
They are also looking for local teen bands that would like to participate in the Battle of the Bands for which a prize will be awarded to the best band of the event.
